The format was two sets to 4, with a 10-point tiebreak if the players split the first two sets.

Of the 15 matches played, 7 were settled by a third-set tiebreak. Overall for the entire match, Delta won 99 games and Yorktown won 87 games. This close competition was exactly what we hoped to get from the match.

In three positions, the Eagles lost the first set but came back to win the match.

Denys Krushenytskyi gained a comeback victory at No. 2 singles, 2-4, 5-3 (10-3).  

Graham Hartman and Drew Durkovich rallied at No. 1 doubles for a 2-4, 4-2, (10-8) win.

Evan Lindburgh and Saul Brown won 2-4, 4-2 (10-4) at No. 4 doubles.

Also winning in a third-set tiebreaker were Jason Ogle and Kiptyn Berry.  They won 5-3, 4-5 (10-5) at No. 2 doubles.

Another tight victory for the Eagles came at No. 1 doubles, where Grant Durkovich and Karson Preston won 5-3, 5-3.

Cohen Williams and Kohlton Ricks won 5-3, 4-2 at No. 5 doubles.

Other winners for Delta were Cooper Coutinho (4-2, 4-0 at No. 1 singles); Teagon Condie/Denver Stover (4-0, 4-1 at No. 5 doubles); and Evan Lindburgh/Saul Brown (4-1, 4-0 in a bonus match).

Karson Preston played a bonus singles match against Yorktown's No.1 player and fell just short, 5-3, 1-4 (4-10).

Jensen Moody battled closely at No. 3 singles before falling 3-5, 4-0 (5-10).

Hayden Case and Austin Carrigan dropped a tight 4-1, 3-5 (5-10) decision at No. 2 doubles.

Stanley Hutchens and Jonah Swift lost 2-4, 2-4 at No. 3 doubles. 

The other two losses for the Eagles were in singles where Hunter Reed and Stanley Hutchens dropped their matches.

Delta and Yorktown will meet again on Tuesday at the Delta courts.  This will be a full varsity and JV Hoosier Heritage Conference match.
