Carroll, featuring a varsity lineup of all seven seniors, entered the non-conference match with a 15-1 record.

Delta, ranked 6th, improved to 12-2.  The Eagles played a varsity lineup of one senior, two juniors, three sophomores and one freshman.

Junior Luke Atkinson got things started with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Alexander Sznaza at No. 3 singles.  This was the fourth match between those two players in the past three seasons.  Sznaza won the first one in 2024, then Atkinson won twice in 2025.  Atkinson raised his record to 15-2 for the season.

Also 15-2 is the No. 1 doubles team of senior Tyce Dishman and sophomore Brandon Grubbs.  They played tough from both the baseline and the net to dominate a strong Carroll team 6-1, 6-1 for their seventh straight victory.  Dishman and Grubbs have lost only to No. 1 ranked Zionsville and No. 3 ranked Hamilton Southeastern this season.

Clinching the team victory last night was No. 1 singles player Jackson Darby.  The sophomore handled Carroll's Tim Croft, 6-2, 6-2 with precision shot-making.  Darby improved to 11-5 with his ninth victory in his last 11 matches.

Sophomore Charlie Vannatter extended the Eagles' lead to 4-0 with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Boston Smith at No. 2 singles.  Vannatter is 13-4 and has won seven in a row.  His only losses at No. 2 singles this season have been to Zionsville, HSE and South Bend St. Joseph -- three of Indiana's top four teams.

The closest match of the night came at No. 2 doubles.  Carroll has lost just once at that position, falling in a close match to 7th-ranked Brebeuf.  Delta junior Roman Ashcraft and freshman Easton Duckworth rallied in both sets to make things interesting, but Carroll pulled out a 7-5, 6-4 victory.

In the JV match, the Eagles showed grit and survived many close matches to take a 7-3 victory.

In one of the best matches of the evening, Jacob Tokar and Denys Krushenytskyi claimed an 8-7 tiebreaker win at No. 1 doubles. The match featured an incredible saving shot by Tokar when he leaped to return a tough overhead smash from his opponent and went on to win the point for the Eagles. Tokar is 13-2 this fall while Krushenytskyi is 17-1.

Drew Durkovich rallied from a 2-5 deficit to also win in a tiebreaker, 6-5, at No. 2 singles.

Cooper Coutinho gained an 8-6 victory at No. 1 singles and is now 14-2 for the season at the top spot.  Grant Durkovich and Kiptyn Berry pulled out an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles.

Other winners were the doubles teams of Graham Hartman/Karson Preston, Austin Carrigan/Hayden Case, and Stanley Hutchens/Jonah Swift.  Hartman extended his season record to 13-1.

The next match for the varsity will be the Senior Night match vs. Pendleton Heights on Wednesday, Sept. 23.  Four seniors (Tyce Dishman, Grant Durkovich, Jason Ogle and Denys Krushenytskyi) will be honored in the pre-match ceremony shortly after 4:30 p.m.

The JV team will host the Delta JV Invitational on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.  Other participating teams are Westfield and Huntington North.  This tourney will be an individual flighted event with A Singles, B Singles, A Doubles and B Doubles.
